  • Refrain from smoking for 2–3 hours before donating.
  • Avoid strenuous activity for at least 1 hour before donating.
  • Eat a high-protein, high-iron meal within 2 hours before donating.
  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Do not donate if you’re feeling sick.
  • Write down any medications you’re taking to ensure it’s safe for you to donate.

  • Your first donation may take up to 2 hours due to medical and physical screening.
